Credit Control Team Leader

How long have you been with the company, and what roles have you done in this time?

I joined BMI Healthcare's Business Services team (BBS) at our shared service centre in Cheshire in 2009, having previously worked at Spire Healthcare as a credit control team leader. Initially, I joined as I knew several people who were working at BMI and came in to help out on a three-month basis - I enjoyed it so much I have ended up staying on permanently.

What attracted you to BMI Healthcare?

I came to work for BMI as they were the market leader and I heard that a new shared service centre had been set up. I enjoy the challenge of establishing processes and ways of working that a new service centre involves.

What do you enjoy about working here?

One of the things I've had lots of exposure to recently is implementing new systems - we have a large-scale PeopleSoft implementation coming up and I've been heavily involved in the test and development, as well as for a new workflow management system. I also really enjoy the variety of the work - the days are full and never boring, and no two are ever the same.
The people  I work with here at BBS get on well, and it really does feel like a big family - it's a very friendly and positive environment.

What would you tell people considering joining?

The company is a fair employer that offers good prospects for development and career progression - for instance, there is a man who's about to join my team who has been working in our customer enquiry contact centre in Glasgow, and has had the opportunity to move within the business. There's also good access to training, whether it's through courses or online technical training.
